The Authentication Process
Four gates every card passes before it leaves our hands.
"Authenticated" gets used loosely in this hobby. Here is what it means at The Card Chest — a documented, repeatable workflow that nine PSA-registered authenticators (including two former BGS graders) execute on every lot we list.

Intake & provenance log
Every card arrives at our West Chester vault with a chain-of-custody record: previous owner, acquisition date, declared grade, and any prior slab history. Nothing enters our inventory anonymously.

Dual-grader review over $1,000
Any card valued above one thousand dollars is reviewed by at least two graders independently. Disagreement triggers a third review by our senior authenticator. We log the result against the issuing grader's known population.

Population-report cross-check
Each assigned grade is cross-referenced against current PSA, BGS, and SGC population data. We surface pop counts in the listing and flag anomalies — overgraded reholders, suspect centering — before a card ever lists.

Screw-down, guarantee, ship
The card is sealed in a screw-down acrylic case, paired with a written authenticity guarantee, and shipped in a magnetic lid box. Average label-printed time: four point two hours from order placement.
